About the movie
English — The Lost Café is an uplifting story about a girl’s decision to rise above dark family secrets and culture shock to live her dreams abroad.
Ose, a young Nigerian girl leaves behind her boyfriend, Hakeem, in order to get an education in Norway. Whilst in Norway her cousin calls to tell her that Hakeem is having an affair with her best friend Dora.
While battling depression she discovers a quaint coffee shop with a strange owner who makes the best coffee in the world and gives an even better outlook on life, setting her on a journey of self-discovery in this coming of age film.
French — The Lost Café est une histoire édifiante sur la décision d’une fille de s’élever au-dessus des sombres secrets de famille et du choc culturel pour vivre ses rêves à l’étranger.
Ose, une jeune fille nigériane laisse derrière elle son petit ami, Hakeem, afin de faire des études en Norvège. En Norvège, sa cousine l’appelle pour lui dire que Hakeem a une liaison avec sa meilleure amie Dora.
Tout en luttant contre la dépression, elle découvre un café pittoresque avec un étrange propriétaire qui prépare le meilleur café du monde et donne une meilleure vision de la vie, la mettant dans un voyage de découverte de soi dans ce film sur le passage à l’âge adulte.
About the director
English — Kenneth Gyang is a 2018 AFS Fellow at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, a graduate of the prestigious EAVE European Producers Workshop. He also studied film production at Nigeria’s National Film Institute and screenwriting at Gaston Kabore’s IMAGINE in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
He is currently working on Kanta of Kebbi, Treasure of the Mysterious Islands, and El Dorado Road, a multi-national film on migration that was developed at EAVE European Producers Workshop in Luxembourg, Poland and Denmark.
French — Kenneth Gyang est boursier AFS 2018 à la School of Cinematic Arts de l’Université de Californie du Sud, diplômé du prestigieux atelier EAVE European Producers. Il a également étudié la production cinématographique à l’Institut national du film du Nigéria et la scénarisation à IMAGINE de Gaston Kabore à Ouagadougou, au Burkina Faso.
Il travaille actuellement sur Kanta of Kebbi, Treasure of the Mysterious Islands et El Dorado Road, un film multinational sur la migration qui a été développé à l’EAVE European Producers Workshop au Luxembourg, en Pologne et au Danemark.
