English — In the heart of Ouagadougou, a granite quarry where nearly 2,500 people, adults, and children, work in dantesque conditions, on the sidelines of a society that refuses to see them. But in 2014, the revolution passed by and blew on the spirits, a wind of emancipation and hope. A certain audacity … And now the miners are considering a better future by freeing themselves from the yoke of intermediaries to sell directly the fruit of their work. The film is a dive into the life of these miners, in the unexpected tenderness as well as in the depth of soul and reflection of which they prove themselves.
French — Au cœur de Ouagadougou, une carrière de granit où près de 2500 personnes, adultes et enfants, travaillent dans des conditions dantesques, en marge d’une société qui refuse de les voir. Mais en 2014, la révolution est passée et a soufflé sur les esprits, un vent d’émancipation et d’espoir. Une certaine audace … Et maintenant les mineurs envisagent un avenir meilleur en s’affranchissant du joug des intermédiaires pour vendre directement le fruit de leur travail. Le film est une plongée dans la vie de ces mineurs, dans la tendresse inattendue ainsi que dans la profondeur d’âme et de reflet dont ils font leurs preuves.
About the director
English — French and Burkinabé writer and filmmaker Chloé Aïcha BORO, after
studying modern literature, began as a journalist in the print media. She started her documentary filmmaking career with a first feature film, Farafin ko, which has won many awards. Her third feature film, Balolé, The golden wolf, won the gold standard of the documentary feature film at Fespaco 2019.
French — L’écrivain et cinéaste français et burkinabé Chloé Aïcha BORO, d’après étudiant la littérature moderne, acommencé comme journaliste dans la presse écrite. Elle a commencé sa carrière de réalisatrice de documentaires avec un premier long métrage, Farafin ko, qui a remporté de nombreux prix. Son troisième long métrage, Balolé, Le loup d’or, a remporté l’étalon-or du long métrage documentaire au Fespaco 2019
